MARTY JAMES HONORED AT THE BMI LATIN AWARDS

Grammy-nominated songwriter Marty James was honored last night at the 25th annual BMI Latin Awards for his work on Luis Fonsi’s record-breaking, multi-platinum, worldwide hit “Despacito” (feat. Daddy Yankee & Justin Bieber). The song was named “Contemporary Latin Song of the Year” and also recognized as one of the “Most-Performed Latin Songs of the Year”. “Despacito” topped the charts of 47 countries and it became the first song primarily in Spanish to top the Billboard Hot 100 since “Macarena” (Bayside Boys Mix) in 1996. It tied the longest-reigning number one on the Billboard Hot 100 with 16 weeks, and is also the longest-reigning number one on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart with 47 weeks. It has been streamed more than 1 Billion times on Spotify and nearly 5 Billion times on YouTube making it the most-viewed video on the platform of all-time.
