BRENT FAIYAZ RENEWS PUBLISHING DEAL WITH PULSE MUSIC GROUP

Scott Cutler and Josh Abraham, co-CEOs of PULSE Music Group and Ashley Calhoun, President, PULSE Music Group today announced that R&B superstar, Brent Faiyaz has renewed a multi-million dollar global publishing deal with PULSE Music Group. Faiyaz initially signed to PULSE Music Group’s world-class roster of songwriters and producers in 2016 and since that time has collaborated with an all-star list of artists, songwriters, and producers. In tandem with his publishing deal renewal, Brent’s debut full-length album WASTELAND, released independently by Lost Kids, Venice and Stem enters the charts at #1 on Billboard Hot R&B/Hip Hop Albums, #1 on R&B albums, #2 on Billboard 200 and was the #1 Spotify Top Albums Debut Global. The weekend the album hit, songs from WASTELAND simultaneously held the #1, #2, #4, #5, #6, #7, #8, and #9 slots on Spotify Top Songs Debut USA Charts.

“With Brent and Ty, we found kindred spirits. They are working toward the highest artistic bar,” said Scott Cutler and Josh Abraham. “They are both fiercely independent and will not compromise. We have been part of Brent’s journey from the early days and have always had a real understanding of his vision. Ty and Brent play by their own rules, and we very much relate to that. We could not be prouder of Brent. It is an honor to be on this journey with him.” “We’ve been involved with Brent since the beginning,” said Ashley Calhoun, President PULSE Music Group. “PULSE was the first publishing company that Ty sent Brent’s music to, and as soon as I heard Brent’s voice I immediately knew that I had to work with him, so we moved quickly to close the deal in spring of 2016. Brent and Ty then reinvested the publishing advance back into their company, which made it possible for Brent to stay independent as an artist because he was able to support himself financially, use our recording studios, and focus on his music full-time. It’s been pedal to the floor ever since, and we’re so proud to be a part of Brent’s incredible team and story.

“I’m excited for the future. This is only the beginning.” said Brent Faiyaz. “Lost Kids & Pulse writing publishing checks for the 99 and the 2000s,” said Ty Baisden. Shortly after Brent signed with PULSE Music Group, Brent met GoldLink at the PULSE Music Group recording studios in Burbank and went on to be featured and was the hook-man on GoldLink’s single ‘Crew’ alongside Shy Glizzy in 2016, which has been certified 5x Platinum and earned him a GRAMMY nomination in the Best Rap/Sung Collaboration category. Fast forward to WASTELAND, Brent’s now stratospheric with a fanbase that respects that he’s playing by his own rules with the vision to do things differently. Faiyaz currently sits at around 12 million monthly listeners on Spotify. WASTELAND includes previously released smash singles featuring Drake and Tyler, The Creator and also contains standout features from Alicia Keys, Raphael Saadiq, and Tre Amani, with string arrangements and production on several tracks by Jordan Waré, and additional contributions from The Dream. The album is executive produced by Jonathan “Freeze” Wells. PULSE Music Group also publishes Lil Rece, producer on “Dead Man Walking” and “Price of Fame” and Joony, co-writer and artist feature on “FYTB Feat. Joony” via Faiyaz’s Lost Kids JV. PULSE also publishes Chad Hugo who co-produced with Pharrell Williams on “Wasting Time Feat. Drake and The Neptunes.”

Faiyaz recently capped a 2021 that saw him collaborate with the likes of Baby Keem, Meek Mill and Tems, release smash solo tracks, and surpass 8.5 billion streams for his catalog that includes 2 Certified Platinum and 5 Certified Gold singles. In 2016, Faiyaz formed his own independent record label, Lost Kids and released his Fuck The World EP in 2020, which debuted at #20 on the Billboard 200 charts. To give back to his fans he started the annual Show U Off Grant Program for Black women entrepreneurs last year and celebrated the 4th annual Lost Kids Benefit in support of youths in his hometown of Baltimore, MD. Faiyaz recently starred in campaigns for Kendrick Lamar's pgLang for Calvin Klein and Reebok, wearing his forthcoming line NUWO (Not Unless We Own) in the latter. Faiyaz has also appeared on tracks with Kanye West, Baby Keem and Tems.
