Biography

Signed to PULSE Records

“When you build upon your own sound, it’ll never fall off,” declares Tommy Richman. The DIY artist has been grinding for nearly a decade before his hard work paid off with the 2024 smash success of the chart-topping, five-times-platinum hit “MILLION DOLLAR BABY ,” along with its follow-up, “DEVIL IS A LIE.” Both loosies arrived ahead of his album, a thematic project designed to showcase the diverse range of Richman’s sound and style. “I always prided myself on being an album artist,” he admits, noting that all 11 songs on COYOTE have streamed into the millions. A corresponding tour followed, where Tommy headlined 27 shows on both sides of the Atlantic. Richman continues to evolve with the 2025 single “ACTIN UP,” which has already charted and garnered over 130 million streams, including a remix featuring Sexxy Red. From the desert inspiration of COYOTE to WORLDS APART*, an upcoming 7-song project influenced by vibrant, seaside Miami, Tommy Richman skillfully navigates through genre, place, and time.

Named after Mötley Crüe’s drummer, Tommy Richman seemed destined for fame. Raised just outside Washington D.C., he mixed formal music studies with a Punk Rock approach. After spending some time in New York, he moved back to Virginia to bartend while building a sound with friends over basement recordings. In early 2022, he spent six months in Los Angeles after connecting online with like-minded creatives. During this time of collaboration and discovery, he dropped songs like “Games” and “BUNKER/PREROLL” (with mynameisntjmack), which racked up millions of streams. ALLIGATOR, his breakout 7-track project, featured the standout “ELECTRIFY TONIGHT.” Brent Faiyaz’s team caught wind of the EP, which led to an ISO Supremacy/PULSE Records deal and a spot on Brent’s 35-date tour. Tommy later featured—alongside FELIX!—on Brent’s hit “Upset,” which now has nearly 200 million streams.

ALLIGATOR gave way to COYOTE, two releases where Richman drew personal inspiration from animal namesakes. However, between the bodies of work, “MILLION DOLLAR BABY” became a juggernaut that ushered Tommy into the mainstream. This breakout hit resonated deeply with Tommy, a fan of boxing. “I spoke the words into existence.” The song soared to #1 on Billboard’s Global 100, dominating R&B/Rap rankings, and reaching the top of 10 other charts. With over 1.5 billion streams, it claimed the title of Spotify’s Top Viral Hit and secured “Best R&B Song” at the 2024 Billboard Music Awards, where Tommy also took home honors for “Best R&B Artist” among four nominations. He received additional recognition at the MTV VMAs and the BET Hip-Hop Awards. Following this success, “DEVIL IS A LIE” was released just weeks later, garnering nearly 400 million streams and cementing Tommy’s place in the spotlight.

“Music is like a timeline of the artist’s life,” Tommy admits. While 2024 presented an artist catapulting into the mainstream, 2025 is different. WORLDS APART*, a clip of playlist-minded songs between albums, is made for summer. The first single, “MIAMI,” which was made there, conjures colorful fits and palm tree breezes with fuzzy synths and rhythmic bass lines. Another cut, “SAN ANDREAS,” draws from G-Funk and R&B—the soundtrack to a scenic convertible night drive. Visuals will bridge the two, which have some admitted video game influence. “It’s about to be on with these videos; I’m a pop star with this.”

“I’m proud of what I’ve done, but I’m on a mission right now. When the mission is finished, maybe I can calm down,” Tommy Richman admits. “I can’t waste a second not trying to be the greatest I can be.”
