Mikey Freedom Hart
Biography
Mikey Freedom Hart is a multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter, arranger, and producer based in New York. He won a GRAMMY for Album of The Year with Jon Batiste, and was nominated for his work on two albums in that category: Jon Batiste – We Are and Taylor Swift – Evermore. He also contributed to many tracks across Swift’s 2020 “Album of the Year” winning Folklore, playing over 15 different instruments which he self-recorded during Covid lockdown. Most recently, Mikey has been working closely with A$AP Rocky, Lil Yachty, Foushee, Allison Ponthier, Teezo Touchdown and co-produced “Shining Star” alongside Jack Antonoff and Brittany Howard (of The Alabama Shakes) on the ‘Minions: The Rise of Gru’ soundtrack.
A native of New Orleans, Louisiana, Hart was classically trained in piano since age three and picked up his immense sense of music and harmony in the church and on the street. At age 16, he moved to New York City to pursue a music career and began busking in the subways and parks. Since then, Hart has worked with many artists, contributing to records for A$AP Rocky, Jon Batiste, Portugal. The Man, Blood Orange, Bleachers, Wet, Empress Of, Tei Shi, Albert Hammond Jr, Taylor Swift, Lana Del Rey, The Chicks, The Cranberries, Florence and the Machine, Santigold, and many more.
